Venture Literary Sells Crime-Scene Bio-Recovery Narrative to Gotham

On February 25, 2005, Byrd Leavell of Venture Literary sold the North American rights to journalist Gil Reavill’s "Aftermath: Cleaning Up After CSI Goes Home", to Erin Moore at Gotham Books.

In Aftermath, critically acclaimed author Gil Reavill will delve into the disturbing but fascinating new field of bio-recovery as it is experienced by the founders of Aftermath, Inc., pioneers in the business of crime-scene clean-up. Just as Mary Roach did in her bestseller, "Stiff", Reavill embarkson a harrowing journey to the extreme edge of human behavior. He gloves up, straps on the Tyvek suit and takes his readers with him on the fascinating adventure of a crime writer who thought he could handle anything and ended up being confronted with the worst of everything.

Reavill arranged to spend time on the job, working side-by-side with Aftermath crews, not only in Chicago but all over the country (Aftermath has thirty-five outlets and is still expanding, most recently to London). He is a palatable, guiding hand into a world in which there is a seemingly bottomless well of interest. Every week, 36 million people watch CSI or one of its spin-offs. The profile of "Aftermath" in "Playboy Magazine" garnered one of the highest reader-response rates of the year. "Aftermath" has been repeatedly written up in both regional and national venues, and Aftermath founders Tim Reifsteck and Chris Wilson have appeared numerous times on television and radio, and also as characters (playing themselves) on ABC’s upcoming NYPD Blue replacement show, Blind Justice.

Tim Reifsteck and Chris Wilson are the founders of Aftermath, Inc., a clean-up and recovery company dedicated to easing emotional trauma at a time when it matters most.
